Impulse Buying at Sephora

Impulse buying is bad for budgets, but I get excited when I see makeup and skincare.  I went to Sephora a  few days ago to return 2 items and somehow, I ended up with skincare, foundation, a lipstick and, of course, a new highlighter.  I will review some of the skincare products after I’ve used them for a bit but until then, here is a sneak peek at what I purchased.

Sephora Haul

I purchased 2 bits of skincare because I’m currently obsessed with getting my skin in order.  I wanted to repurchase my Kate Somerville cleanser, that was featured in my favorites post, but the Sephora inside JC Penney’s didn’t have it, therefore I went with the Shiseido Perfect Cleansing Oil.  I also wanted to try a face peel and Peter Thomas Roth had a new one on the shelf so I popped it on the counter at the last minute.

The three makeup items that I purchased are the Cover FX Total Cover Cream Foundation, the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Topaz and a Sephora Cream Lip Stain.  I’ve returned all three items before this post could even go live.  The Cover FX was the wrong shade and formula because I grabbed the incorrect product due to impulse shopping and not having a plan together.  The Becca Skin Perfector was shattered when I opened it so back it went.  The Sephora Lip Stain was not the color I expected it to be and was a bit too shimmery for my liking so that also went back.

I’m really going to make a concerted effort to cut back on the impulse buying until I can consolidate my makeup stash and use up some of this skincare, but it’s hard!

If you have trouble with impulse buying too, let me know.  Let’s form a support group or we can just enable each other on twitter!
