Essence Beauty Box – November 2015

I decided to give my Essence Beauty Box Subscription a 3-month trial and I’m glad I did because November’s box gave a far better impression than my initial box.  We actually got some color in the box this time which makes me happy!

I received my shipment rather late in the month, however, the company sent an apology note and a small makeup bag separately which made me feel like they value my business. Customer service is huge with me and I love when company’s acknowledge their mistakes and attempt to correct them.

Essence Beauty Box Review November

The November edition featured 6 samples.  Those samples included 3 hair products, 1 body product, and 2 makeup products.  I like the variety of products and, of course, I love that I received a red lipstick.

DevaCurl No-Poo Decadence and One Condition Decadence

Deva Curl is one of those brands that I have been dying to try because I’ve heard great things about the line.  These two products are 100% Sulfate, Paraben, and Silicone Free and I  can’t wait to give them a try.

Suave Professionals Moroccan Infusion Body Lotion

Next up we have the Suave Body Lotion and the Fekkai Hair Fragrance Mist.   The body lotion got popped directly onto my desk because my hands are so dry lately and this does a really good job at moisturizing them.  It does have a slightly sticky feel initially that may bother some, but it dissipates rather quickly.

I gave the Fekkai hair mist a try only because it was in the box and my husband said he liked the scent.  He also said that it was a nice change because my hair usually just smells like whatever conditioner I’m using.  Shout-out to my husband for the feedback because this product was initially a no-go for me!

Smashbox Full Exposure Mascara in Jet Black and Black Opal Vampy Red

The Full Exposure Mascara from Smashbox doesn’t deliver the drama that I like and I didn’t notice a lengthening or thickening effect.

The formula on my Black Opal lipstick was good.  The lipstick is moisturizing and the color lasted on my lips about 2 hours before I started noticing some very slight fading.  It does transfer and is not a true matte, but I still like the shade and how comfortable and moisturizing it feels on the lips.

Final Thoughts:   Essence is keeping me for another month!  This box does offer value and I’m pleased to see the introduction of some color.  I’m hoping that as the box grows, we get more of a specialized selection that would include some exclusives.  I also hope that they start to include more on trend items and new up and coming brands.
