Quench, Moisturize, Illuminate and take my money! Do you know how hard it is to resist products that claim to hydrate and illuminate the skin especially when you have dry/dull skin like I do? Well, trust me it’s hard. Add to that the fact that I have also been combating a severe skin issue and then you can probably understand why I’m buying all of the skincare I can get my hands on. After finally getting my skin close to normal I decided to give some more of the Drunk Elephant product line a try since I love the results that I saw from their other products. Of course, I went for a moisture boost and purchased the Hydration Gel.
The Drunk Elephant B-Hydra™ Intensive Hydration Gel, according to the brand, is supposed to increase moisture retention and hydrate the skin while also helping to improve the look of the skin by reducing fine lines. The product also has antioxidants, is anti-bacterial and contains skin lightening properties which should improve discoloration over time. I found that everything that the product claims to do, it does and I am really impressed. My skin felt so good after using this and after each use, my skin looked better. When I added this product to my current skincare routine, I noticed a big difference in how my skin felt. It felt soft and supple, hydrated but not greasy and my skin around my eye area has definitely improved and the appearance of fine lines has significantly decreased.
B-Hydra™ Intensive Hydration Gel
Price: $52.00 USD
Available at Sephora
Final Thoughts: I love it and I would definitely recommend it for people with dry skin. The Gel hydrates without leaving any residue and my skin is moisturized throughout my entire day. It absorbs into the skin quickly so I can move on to the next item in my skincare/makeup prep easily. It layers so well over other products and serums and it also layers very well underneath my makeup. It makes my skin feel smooth and the texture is amazing. The price is a little steep but skincare can be very expensive and since the product actually works, I think the price tag is legit. The packaging is nice and simple with a twist up cap that easily opens and closes and dispenses enough product to be useful but not too much that you feel as though you are wasting product. I have no complaints about this hydrating gel and it has been added to my repurchase list and has also quickly become a skincare favorite.
The key ingredients are listed below and taken from the Drunk Elephant website.
-Pro-Vitamin B5: Humectant that attracts and holds moisture. Works to improve skin’s barrier function and maintain the proliferation of fibroblasts, cells that create collagen.
-Sodium Hyaluronate Crosspolymer: Able to penetrate the skin to hydrate and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, while promoting collagen formation. Delivers excellent moisturization through the slow delivery of water and acts as a free radical scavenger and powerful antioxidant.
-Pineapple Ceramide: Provides skin lightening, anti-aging, moisturization, and visibly improved skin texture and tone.
-Watermelon Rind/Apple/Lentil Complex: A natural complex combining watermelon rind, lentil fruit and apple extract that provides 24 hour skin hydration and significantly reduces fine lines, while increasing cell membrane fluidity and moisture retention.
-Swertia Chirata Extract: A humectant extracted from the Indian Chiretta plant that improves skin regeneration and thickness.
-Bearberry Extract: Moisturizing and soothing agent with antibacterial, antioxidant and skin-lightening properties.
-Squalane: This natural moisturizing factor (NMF) has immune-stimulating properties and increases skin respiration, preventing water loss from the surface of the skin. It hydrates and soothes without an unpleasant, greasy feel.
