MAC girls be like, I need every new collection. That was me way back when but you know I have these kids and these responsibilities and too much makeup so I had to cut some of that splurging out. Oh and side note, don’t you’ll hate that these new collections sell out of the “hot” items so fast, I mean before we can even log on to see the release they are sold out? Well I got sick of that too so now I stick to my favorites and I throw in a bit of newness every now and then.
Don’t be afraid to treat yourself. I know that when you’re a wife, mother, entrepreneur or just on your daily grind of being a woman, it is easy to start slacking on the self-care. But we all need to do something for ourselves and not feel guilty about it. Taking care of yourself is the best thing you can do for everyone around you. Trust me, if I don’t take care of myself everyone in the house feels my aggravation, my lethargy and overall crankiness and that is not cute. No one wants that kind of energy around them so girl, stop it!
For me, I like to start with things I call little luxuries. These are things that are small and may seem insignificant, but they really go a long way in increasing my mood/energy. Getting a little bit fancy with the body oil is easy and it helps that the packaging looks pretty in the bathroom. Bonus!
Blend, blend, and then blend some more. You want that foundation to look good don’t you? You want that concealer to stay put right?! Then you need to blend, blend, blend and then you set that! You can do all of this with the beauty blender pro. In today’s feature, I’m going to show four ways that I like to use my beauty blender and tell you a little about this tiny wonder.
Remember the Sephora Beauty Insider program that I told you’ll about? Well when you join, they give you a little appreciation gift for your birthday. My birthday was last month but I’m always late so I went and picked up my little gift last week and I was pleasantly surprised and excited to see that it was one of my favorite brands. I love Nars. Love, Love, Love Nars and one of my favorite Nars products are their lip pencils. In this set you get two samples of the pencils which appear to be about half of the regular pencils.
Final Thoughts: Both of these are very comfortable to wear. The Cruella is my favorite of the two because I love a red lip. Cruella is also a really comfortable matte, meaning it doesn’t dry out the lips and it glides on really smoothly. It appears slightly darker in person than it does in pictures so keep that in mind if you decide to try this shade. It is very flattering on my skin tone which is surprising since I typically don’t go for the orange-red lippies. This shades lasted about 5 hours on my lips with minimal fading, but it did transfer to everything that I ate and drank.
Rikugien is pretty as well, but the formula does emphasize lines and can settle in those lines so exfoliate those lips! This color doesn’t last as long as the matte shade, but it’s so easy to throw in the bag and reapply that it really didn’t bother me. I also want to note that it is glossy but also a bit sticky/tacky so if that’s something that bothers you, this is not the shade/formula for you. Both shades need retouching after eating or drinking. Rikugein lasted a couple of hours on me before I started noticing fading but because the shade is so light, it was barely noticeable to the naked eye.
Overall, I love these little things, mainly because they were free. I don’t think I would spend $26 on repurchasing these particular shades, but I would definitely like to try other shades. (sidenote: Dragon Girl in the Matte Lip Pencil is one of my all-time favorites and it’s a definite must buy.)
Let me know what you guys think of these two shades.
Skincare is greater than makeup. Do not neglect your skin, I repeat do not neglect your skin. As much as I love makeup, I need for my skin to stay as clear as possible because in everyday life, I can correct hyperpigmentation and I can conceal those imperfections but hiding texture, nope can’t do that one. You can still see those little bumps and that is not what I need in my life.
We can all slap on as many toners and serums as we like but first we need a clean base to start with. Having a clean/clear canvas (face) will also make your makeup look better so that is why the Clarisonic is one of those necessary luxuries that I have to have and friends you might want to run out and get you one too!
You see this little card right here? This is what I like to refer to as a Shiny Happy Pretty new card! This card is the reason why I’m about to spend more money on skincare and makeup and then get all giddy. This card will also be the reason that you will be seeing an influx of beauty posts for the next several weeks which is dope! Newness is exciting!
If you’re a newbie to the beauty craziness that is Sephora, they have an insider program with three levels. The levels are Beauty Insider, VIB (Very Important Beauty Insider) and VIB Rouge. I’m currently at the VIB level so Sephora sent me the VIB 20% off coupon and, of course, I had to make a quick wish list. Here are some of the items that are on my radar.
